Pauline Bullard MA is an artist, art historian and lecturer on art history. Her work reflects the landscape around her, from the ruined grandeur of Nunney Castle, Somerset, to the pre-historic majesty of Stonehenge and Averbury; and the coastline of Devon and Dorset.
Ancient sites; places of memories; the land and its edges; shadows and absences; an echo of what came before. Ideas are expressed in mixed media, oil, watercolour and etchings, with a strong emphasis on the activity of drawing. Mark making and the surface qality of the painting as an interrogation of a perceived absence – and a record of the artist’s presence.
